Service Today is a rapidly growing business. Having exceeded their previous long term goals, it was time for their management team to create a new “Big Hairy Audacious Goal” (using the Rhythm System framework). They contacted us to package together a 3 day conference retreat, to include one day of adventurous activities and two days of conference hosting.
With our operator accreditation, we picked up interstate staff from the Airport and then the rest of the Management team from Service Today’s Head Office. The first stop was a remote clifftop in the Blue Mountains.
After morning tea and intros, we were straight into the abseiling. Starting small, the team was soon conquering 25m vertical drops- although with the valley 100ms of metres below, it definitely felt much higher! One of the ultimate tests of trust, it was great to see Service Today staff supporting each other to overcome their fears.
We then continued with an exploration of the Blue Mountains, getting a best of the sights by visiting some key lookouts and learning about the Darug culture, local history, flora and fauna. We checked into our exclusive accommodation, which was full of country charm; warm and homely. That night we organised an “Iron Chef Cooking Challenge”, and wow did the teams deliver! A desert incorporating the company colours may have decided the win.
For the next two days we provided support services to ensure that Service Today could get the best results from their strategy sessions. This included preparing facilities, catering (a great breakfast always means the best start for the day), and energiser activities. The energisers were a great way to have a break between sessions, get the blood pumping and have some fun, while also addressing some developmental outcomes which linked in with their agenda items. These included communication, getting to know each other better, and prioritising.
The final dinner had a homely and gourmet feel to it, and was followed by fairy lights and night photography. Painting with light is always a fun way to get creative. We captured some great Service Today branding shots, as well as some ‘muck around’ individual photos.
